Vice President of Operations
Anaheim
Furnishing Hope provides furniture and supplies to families that have suffered tremendously and need a fresh start or safe haven.
MISSION
Furnishing Hope’s mission is to facilitate healing, reduce stress and encourage the overall feeling of security for our families as they transition to independent living. We accomplish this by providing the furniture and supplies needed to create a nurturing home.
Our Purpose
Furnishing Hope transforms empty spaces into peaceful and comfortable homes, complete with furniture, new mattresses, bedding, bathroom and kitchenware, which lessens the burden and provides one less suffering to endure.
Our Goal
To date Furnishing Hope has furnished over 1,100 homes for families transitioning from homelessness, including homes for our wounded heroes. This year we plan to furnish 100 more. We understand the tremendous and unique challenges our transitioning wounded heroes and women with children face. We are successful when we see the smiles on their faces, tears in their eyes and the relief in knowing they will have a place where they can heal, and their family can thrive. We CAN and WILL make a difference.
Today
Its Founder and CEO, Beth Phillips has grown Furnishing Hope to a thriving nonprofit with a positive flurry of activity, hope and joy. With a small but mighty team of six the organization’s annual revenue, composed of earned revenue, philanthropy and grants, has increased to about $800,000 annually. Furnishing Hope is also proud of its fiscal policies that have resulted in over one year of operating budget in reserves. With this growth, Beth and the Board of Directors are looking to expand further and invest in a new position, the Vice President of Operations (VPO). The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for all internal operations, design management and delivery, human resources and financial management, allowing Phillips to focus on the external activities which include fundraising, nonprofit partnership development, Board development and external affairs.
Furnishing Hope has primarily operated by collaborating with other nonprofits that provide housing. This approach has positioned them as a valuable resource for organizations like Wounded Warriors. The availability of CalAIM funding has transformed Furnishing Hope into an essential asset for organizations such as Encompass Health. Without Furnishing Hope's services, these organizations would need to independently source and design furniture for their clients, a time-consuming and resource-intensive process.
The appointment of a new Vice President of Operations will allow Phillips to focus on expanding Furnishing Hope's reach. This strategic move will enable her to market their services to a broader range of nonprofits, potentially leading to significant growth in both revenue and social impact.
The Vice President of Operations will bring a track record in evaluating and implementing best practices and systems to improve operational, financial, human resources and programmatic processes to increase capacity of its resources. With a small team, the Vice President of Operations will be a strategic leader as well as a hands-on, day-to-day operator of the mission.
We are seeking a visionary leader who is deeply committed to the mission and can serve as a strategic partner to Phillips and the Board of Directors, in steering Furnishing Hope through its next phase of growth and expansion. The ideal candidates will bring passion, innovation, and a forward-thinking approach to help shape the organization's future trajectory.
