Executive Director

Costa Mesa, CA

Mission

“WE TAKE GOD’S WORD INTO SOME OF THE HARDEST PLACES, REACHING MANY OF THOSE CAUGHT IN THE CYCLE OF ADDICTION, SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, AND TRAUMA. OUR MISSION IS TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST SEEING THOSE WHO WERE ONCE OUTCASTS TRANSFORMED INTO WITNESSES.

ABOUT

At NorthEast of the Well, we meet people in their “before;” before they are sober, before they are healed, and before they know Christ. When the lost and hurting experience Jesus’ love for the first time, their hearts are transformed. However, transformation takes time. That’s why we also stay with people in their “after.” Recovery is a process that can only happen in a community. As people leave the treatment programs and residential centers where we host Bible studies, they stay connected to our ministry through weekly gatherings and discipleship. We understand the need to be available to walk hand in hand with our community.

“We do discipleship,” explains Executive Director and Founder Laura Suk. “We don’t just meet people where they are, we form a community.” NorthEast of the Well makes disciples of men and women who then become disciple-makers themselves. This is a key element of NorthEast of the Well’s ministry, as those who once were “takers” become “givers.”  With this model the ministry is expanding, and it is now in 22 different recovery programs, hosts three weekly large gatherings, and ministers to those being trafficked in Orange and Los Angeles Counties. We continue to be obedient to His will to go and vote with our feet”.

Laura’s 25 years of mission work, together with a dedicated Board, staff, and volunteers, has taken NE from a couple of people, a keyboard and a bible in Laura’s living room to a fiscally responsible $1.2 million in revenue nonprofit with assets of $1.4 million. Laura is now at a time of her life where she wants to continue her ministry work in a less formal role. She will be retiring as the Executive Director and will transition into an ambassadorial role to continue to support NE’s ministry, volunteers, and donors.

NorthEast of the Well is looking for an Executive Director to join in their mission to be a worshiping community, by bringing hope and healing to those impacted by generational patterns of addiction, abuse, sexual exploitation, and incarceration.
